Bobby Brazier has revealed that he is leaving the UK just months after departing EastEnders. Choosing to step away from the glamour of showbiz, the 23-year-old is preparing to embark on what could be the most unexpected chapter of his life

Bobby Brazier has revealed that he is leaving the UK behind following his departure from EastEnders, as the actor embraces a dramatically different chapter centred on spirituality, self-discovery and a move to the United States.

The former EastEnders star, who turns 23 today, confirmed his plans during a video shared on Instagram. Bobby, best known for playing Freddie Slater on the BBC soap for three years, surprised fans when he disclosed that he would soon be relocating across the Atlantic.

In the clip, a model casting agent approaches Bobby in the street and asks whether he would be interested in a test photoshoot. Responding with a smile, Bobby replied: “You know I’m actually moving to New York.”

He then clarified: “Well I say New York, in New Jersey.”

Although Bobby confirmed that he would be in the US from July, he did not reveal the exact reason for the move, leaving fans speculating about whether it could be connected to new career opportunities, modelling projects or his ongoing spiritual journey.

The son of TV presenter Jeff Brazier and the late Big Brother icon Jade Goody has largely stepped away from the spotlight since leaving EastEnders in December. Instead of pursuing high-profile television projects, Bobby has devoted much of his time to travel, personal growth and religion.

Over the past year, he has openly shared his growing connection with the Hare Krishna movement. During a trip to India, Bobby posted videos showing himself singing, dancing and celebrating alongside fellow devotees.

Reflecting on the experience in one emotional Instagram post, he wrote: “It doesn’t get better than this. I have no real devotion but by the mercy of the holy name and those great souls who do, I get to experience a little taste of their love of God and pray that this impression won’t leave me. Man it’s so amazing.”

Hare Krishna is a branch of Hinduism focused on devotion to Krishna through prayer, chanting and joyful celebration. Bobby’s commitment to the faith appears to have become a major part of his life since leaving acting.

While preparing for his move abroad, the actor has reportedly become a familiar face at the Hare Krishna temple in Soho, London. According to reports, he regularly attends weekly sessions, helping in the kitchen, learning prayers and taking part in community activities.

A volunteer at the temple previously said: “He’s here every Saturday without fail. He joins our kitchen session, learns the prayers – this isn’t a gimmick.”

Those close to Bobby believe his spiritual path has helped him find comfort following the challenges he has faced throughout his life, including the devastating loss of his mother Jade Goody, who died from cervical cancer in 2009 when Bobby was just three years old.

A family friend explained: “Bobby had a difficult life. His mum dying left a mark on him, as it would. Hare Krishna is somewhere he seeks solace. It might seem strange, but for him, it works.”

As he prepares to begin a new life in America, Bobby appears focused less on fame and more on finding purpose, peace and a deeper connection to his faith. For fans who watched him grow from a rising soap star into a household name, his next chapter may prove to be his most unexpected yet.
