“This Is My Last Day”: Clive Owen makes emotional exit from the farm as he heads in for surgery, as Sons Take the Reins

Clive Owen, the beloved star of Our Yorkshire Farm, has opened up about his temporary departure from the farm as he prepares for a second hip replacement surgery. The emotional moment was captured in a rerun of Our Farm Next Door, where Clive addressed viewers with heartfelt honesty.

“This is my last day for a little while,” he admitted, explaining that he would be at the hospital by 7:30 the next morning. “I wouldn’t say I’m really looking forward to it, but that’s what’s going to happen.”

Clive, who has undergone the procedure before, remained calm yet reflective. “Like it or not, that is what is happening tomorrow,” he said, adding that although he was “a bit nervous,” he trusted the process. “The next thing you wake up and it’s done.”

Still, the idea of stepping back wasn’t easy for the hardworking farmer. “I don’t want folk to think I just stand around and ponder,” he joked, displaying his signature dry humour.

In the episode, Clive is seen directing his sons, Miles and Sidney, as they take over the farm’s day-to-day operations. Despite joking that he’s been “a horrible patient because I’m impatient,” he praised his boys for stepping up: “I couldn’t have managed without these lads. They’ve done very well.”

There’s a sense of passing the baton as Clive even quipped, “They needn’t hand the reins back to me—they can just carry on. I could find myself redundant.”

In a touching moment, Clive reminded viewers of the heart of farming life: “That is what family farms are all about, everybody has to help.”
