A cryptic post fuels fresh rumours
Questions continue to swirl over Karl Stefanovic’s future following his departure from Channel Nine, and now an unexpected social media post from his brother has added even more intrigue.
With Karl currently without a television network, speculation has intensified over where the veteran broadcaster could appear next. While no official announcement has been made, a playful promotion shared by Peter Stefanovic has reignited public curiosity.
The video, posted on Instagram, featured the tongue-in-cheek line: “The only way to wake up with a Stefanovic… is to watch Sky News Australia.”
Peter, who currently hosts a breakfast program on Sky News Australia, accompanied the clip with nothing more than a winking emoji—leaving followers wondering whether there was more to the message than met the eye.

A joke—or a subtle hint?
The post quickly caught the attention of fans, many interpreting it as a cheeky suggestion that Karl could be heading to Sky News.
While the video was ultimately part of a humorous promotional campaign for Peter’s own program rather than an announcement involving Karl, its timing prompted plenty of discussion online.
Followers embraced the joke, describing the post as “cheeky” and “brilliant,” while Peter’s wife, television presenter Sylvia Jeffreys, reacted with a laughing emoji.
Although there is no indication Karl is joining Sky News, the playful exchange has only intensified speculation about his next career move.
Karl’s departure continues to make headlines
Karl’s exit from Channel Nine followed significant controversy surrounding an episode of The Karl Stefanovic Show, his online vodcast.
The program attracted widespread attention after featuring British far-right activist Tommy Robinson as a guest. The episode was removed from YouTube shortly after it was published, and the controversy added further scrutiny to Karl’s position.
Soon afterwards, his time at Nine came to an abrupt end, months before his contract was originally due to expire.
Karl has since described himself as being “free” from the network, signalling the beginning of a new chapter in his career.

A pointed message about modern television
Since leaving Nine, Karl has not shied away from sharing his opinions on the state of television.
Speaking during an interview on his vodcast with British broadcaster Piers Morgan, he criticised what he sees as increasingly cautious programming and suggested many networks now favour presenters who avoid controversy.
Without naming individuals, Karl argued that concerns over advertiser backlash have led to television becoming filled with what he described as “beige personalities.”
Despite those criticisms, he made it clear that his admiration for former Today co-host Sarah Abo remains unchanged, publicly praising her professionalism and friendship.
An exit that may not have been entirely unexpected
Karl also revealed that he had already informed Channel Nine of his intention to leave before his contract expired later this year.
According to the veteran presenter, he had planned to move on at the end of his agreement, but the network instead ended the partnership several months earlier.
The revelation has added another layer to the discussion surrounding his departure and raised further questions about what opportunities may lie ahead.

What’s next remains the biggest question
For now, Karl Stefanovic has yet to reveal where his broadcasting career will continue.
Whether Peter Stefanovic’s playful social media post was simply a joke or an intentional nod to ongoing speculation, it has succeeded in reigniting conversation about one question many television viewers are asking:
Where will Karl Stefanovic appear next?
Until an official announcement is made, that mystery continues to keep audiences guessing.
