Princess Anne was the subject of a Sky News report today (April 21) on what would have been Queen Elizabeth II’s 100th birthday. The late monarch died in September 2022, making her son Charles king, and now the Princess Royal has officially opened a memorial garden celebrating her life.

Sky News aired videos taken from the unveiling of a dedication plaque today, at which Princess Anne made a speech commemorating the late Queen. The Queen Elizabeth II Garden, located in Regent’s Park, is a two-acre site built on a former horticultural nursery. It will officially be ready to welcome public visitors from April 27th.

As part of her speech at the event, Princess Anne said: “Gardens are important for a number of reasons, in terms of historical perspective.”
