Gone Fishing dog Ted dies as Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse pay tribute to beloved TV terrier

GONE Fishing star Ted, who starred on the BBC show alongside Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse, has sadly passed away.

The pooch, a Patterdale terrier mix, was a much-loved part of the gentle show, having joined the two comedians in 2020.

Show stars Bob and Paul shared touching tributes to the pup following the news of his death.

“So very, very sad. Lovely Ted, the best companion and the greatest little chum. Going to miss him so much.. and away boss,” said Bob.

Paul added: “Bye bye Ted old friend. He wasn’t a dog, he was a species all of his own.

“He’s gone to the great briefcase emporium in the sky. We will really miss you mate.”

Ted’s owner, Lisa Clark, who is also the show’s executive producer, said the animal will be “sorely missed” in a sad statement.

Lisa shared: “Ted was a much-loved family pet as well as a treasured companion to Paul and Bob on Gone Fishing.

“He took fame in his little stride and loved nothing better than messing around on the riverbanks, nicking jammy dodgers from Bob and bait from Paul.

“He will be sorely missed both at home and on screen. We’ll never forget him. He is survived at home by Bo the Briard.”

The BBC show follows comedians and lifelong friends, Bob and Paul , as they head on fishing adventures.

Ted, who was rescued from a dog’s home in 2013 and taken in by Lisa, was a staple on the show and much-loved by fans.

He even had his own Instagram page, which boasts over 200K followers.

The page shared a tribute following the news, writing: “Sad news about our little Ted 2013-2026.

“Always loved, never forgotten… and away little fella”.

Tributes from fans flooded in for the terrier, as one fan wrote underneath the post: “News I never wanted to hear. Lovely Ted!

“Rest well buddy, you were, and always will be, much loved by everyone”.

Another wrote: “This is so sad to see. He was an icon of the show and the bond he had with Paul and Bob was lovely to see.

“Will be so sad not seeing him on our screens anymore”.

Ted will appear in an upcoming episode during series nine – which will be his final appearance on the show.
