A Rejection Letter That Left Reggie Devastated
Reggie recently revealed on social media that she had applied for a position as a Subway Sandwich Artist, hoping to return to the workforce.
Instead, she received a rejection email informing her that her application was unlikely to progress any further.
Sharing a screenshot of the response, Reggie summed up her disappointment with a painfully honest message:
“Bugger… I can’t even get a job making sandwiches.”
The post quickly gained attention, with many Australians sympathising with her frustration.
Australians Say Her Story Reflects a Bigger Problem
Supporters flooded the comments, saying Reggie’s experience highlighted just how difficult it has become to find work.

‘I Feel Like a Failure’
This isn’t the first time Reggie has spoken candidly about the emotional toll of being unable to find employment.
Speaking on the Mental As Anyone podcast in December 2024, the mother of two admitted she had begun questioning her own worth despite becoming the first person ever to win Big Brother twice—first in 2003, then again in 2022.
“I sort of feel like a failure,” she confessed.
Reggie said she couldn’t understand why employers wouldn’t give her an opportunity, despite her willingness to work.
“I’m starting to think, why doesn’t anyone want to give me a job? I want to work and that starts to make you feel like… no one wants you.”
She added that she would happily answer phones or work in customer service, believing she still has plenty to offer despite her disability.
Living With Two Rare Conditions
Behind Reggie’s employment struggles is an ongoing battle with serious health challenges.
She is legally blind after being diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, a rare degenerative eye disease that has gradually reduced her vision to just nine degrees of pinhole sight. She has no peripheral vision and no night vision.
Describing what everyday life is like, she explained:
“I only just see what’s in front of me. It’s like looking through a straw.”
Reggie also lives with Usher syndrome, a rare inherited condition that affects both hearing and vision, further limiting the types of work she can safely perform.
Fame Didn’t Guarantee Financial Security
Although Reggie made television history by becoming the first contestant to win Big Brother twice—and earned a combined $250,000 in prize money across the 2003 and 2022 seasons—financial security has remained elusive.
Her latest revelation serves as a sobering reminder that reality TV success doesn’t always translate into long-term stability.
