Netflix fans should have a box of tissues ready before watching this trending film.
The streaming giant keeps track of the shows and movies everyone is streaming with its most-watched charts, and it seems UK viewers are hooked on a gripping family drama from 2015.
Fathers and Daughters has firmly climbed to Number 4 on the Top Films list, joining brand new releases like Enola Holmes 3 and Voicemails for Isabelle.
The tear-jerking film follows Pulitzer-winning novelist Jake Davis, who loves his wife and daughter dearly. But Jake’s life spirals after he gets into a road accident that kills his wife and leaves him badly injured.

Jake then starts experiencing worrying symptoms that force him to check into hospital for several months, leaving his little girl Katie in the care of close family.
Over 20 years later, viewers follow Katie as she struggles to form strong adult relationships due to her rocky childhood.
The drama features a stellar cast including Oscar winner Russell Crowe and actress Amanda Seyfried as the titular ‘father and daughter’. They worked alongside Italian director Gabriele Muccino, who famously helmed Will Smith’s The Pursuit of Happyness.
Despite its star-studded crew, though, Fathers and Daughters was completely slated by critics. Rotten Tomatoes reviewers gave it a sour 29% rating, claiming the film was “melodramatic”.
But casual viewers disagreed, awarding the drama a generous 60% score. It seems the moving storyline left a mark on viewers.
One confessed: “In my opinion, this is one of Russell Crowe’s greatest movies. I cry every time I watch it. It’s got that heart feel like the movie The Notebook. Get a box of tissues.”
Someone else agreed: “I cried so hard 70% of this movie, love it so much,” while a third chimed in: “PS: Keep tissues nearby when you’re seeing F & D. Am not kidding.”
Yet another moviegoer branded the drama as “Emotionally powerful & gripping.”
With a final fan adding: “Both times I’ve watched this flick, it has uncommonly moved me during the viewing experience. What better praise could I give a movie that indeed leads with such an emotional premise? Even if this doesn’t look like your cup of tea, give it a chance–more likely than not it’ll move you as well.”
